Play-based interventions are therapeutic activities that use play—like games, storytelling, drawing, or role-playing—as a way to help children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Because children don’t always have the words to explain how they feel, play gives them a natural and safe way to communicate.
These interventions are guided by a trained adult (like a counselor or therapist), who observes and gently interacts with the child during play. Through this process, the adult helps the child process emotions, learn problem-solving skills, build confidence, and cope with challenges in healthy ways.
